You Are
We’re looking for an AI/ML Analyst who can design, evaluate, and operationalize agentic AI systems with a strong grasp of the Agentic Protocol and MCP (Model Context Protocol) Servers.
The Opportunity
• Agentic System Design & Analysis
• Translate business workflows into agentic plans: tool decomposition, grounding, context flows, and action orchestration.
• Specify/validate Agentic Protocol contracts for planning, tool invocation, memory, and reflection loops.
• Evaluate agent behaviors for correctness, safety, latency, and cost; write test harnesses and eval suites.
• MCP Server Integration
• Configure and extend MCP Servers to expose internal tools/APIs, knowledge bases, and data services to LLM agents.
• Define schemas, capabilities, and permissions for MCP tools; implement robust error handling and backoff strategies.
• Ensure interoperability with popular clients, SDKs, and orchestration layers.
• RAG & Data Pipelines
• Build/data-wire RAG pipelines (chunking, embeddings, retrieval strategies, caching).
• Partner with data teams on feature stores, vector DBs, document QA hygiene, and freshness SLAs.
• Evaluation, Safety, and Observability
• Implement automated evals (functional, adversarial, regression) using golden sets and feedback loops.
• Instrument telemetry: prompt/response logs, tool-call traces, cost/latency, and quality/safety signals.
• Collaborate with Security/Compliance for data privacy, PII handling, model risk, audit trails, and policy adherence.
• Release & Reliability
• Work closely with SRE to productionize agents: CI/CD, gated releases, rollout plans, feature flags, and canaries.
• Drive incident response patterns and post-incident reviews for agentic systems.
• Stakeholder Enablement
• Document runbooks, guardrails, and usage patterns; deliver enablement sessions.
• Convert exploratory POCs into scalable, supportable solutions aligned to platform standards.
This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.
What You Need
• 3–6+ years in AI/ML, Data Science, or Platform/Automation roles with LLM/agent exposure.
• Hands-on with LLM tooling (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, crewAI, DSPy) and RAG patterns.
• Familiarity with Agentic Protocol concepts (planning, tools, memory, safety loops) and MCP Server usage (tool exposure, permissions, schemas).
• Proficiency in Python (pandas, FastAPI/Flask), prompt engineering, and evaluation workflows.
• Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, FAISS) and embedding models.
• Practical knowledge of cloud AI (Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and model configuration (rate limits, cost controls, retries).
• Strong observability mindset: logging, tracing, dashboards (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK).
• Understanding of security/compliance (PII handling, data governance, secrets management, approvals).
• Git, CI/CD, and container fundamentals (Docker; basic Kubernetes is a plus).
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: California
Compensation Range: $98,000-$147,000
Benefits
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.
