What’s the role?
This role supports the development and execution of the Technology strategy through high quality research, analysis, and structured problem solving. The position plays a key role in researching external technology trends, applying strategic models and frameworks, and generating insights that inform strategic decision-making across the Group.
Key Responsibilities include:
Conduct structured research and analysis to support the development and ongoing refinement of the Group’s Technology strategy.
Research emerging and disruptive technologies and evolving business–technology models, synthesising findings into clear, evidence based insights.
Apply strategic frameworks and tools to assess opportunities, risks, and strategic options.
Monitor external technology, industry, and market developments, maintaining up to date knowledge and translating findings into implications for the Group.
Support the preparation of clear, well-structured materials for senior stakeholders, including presentations and briefing papers, helping to translate research and analysis into practical strategic insights.
Liaise with a range of stakeholders – from specialised technologist to senior business leaders to support strategy development and communication.
What do I need?
To be successful in this role, you will have strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to structure complex problems and draw logical, evidence-based conclusions. You will be familiar with commonly used strategic models, frameworks, and analytical tools. You will be a clear and concise communicator, capable of summarising research and analysis for non technical audiences. You will be a quick learner, a self-starter and a driven individual, who is comfortable working with ambiguity and in a rapidly changing technology environment. An interest in emerging technologies (such as AI, data, and other digital trends) and how they can be applied to create value for Westpac and its customers is essential.
