What’s the role about?
As an Apprentice Developer, you’ll:
Support the design, development, and maintenance of business applications using Microsoft technologies (think C#, .NET, SQL Server, Azure, and more!).
Learn on the job and through a structured Level 4 Software Developer apprenticeship.
Work with experienced IT professionals and friendly colleagues across the council.
Help make a real difference to how our services run for the people of Torbay.
What will you do?
Write and test code, help design new features, and support users.
Learn about databases, data security, and how to keep information safe.
Get involved in research, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Attend college one day a week to build your skills and knowledge.
Enjoy a supportive environment with coaching and mentoring.
What are we looking for?
Eagerness to learn and a positive attitude.
Good communication skills – ask questions, share your progress, and listen well.
Team player who collaborates respectfully and reliably.
Attention to detail and good time management.
Basic knowledge of programming (variables, loops, functions), C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL.
Experience working as part of a team (school, college, or voluntary work).
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, plus a Level 3 qualification in IT or related subject (or equivalent experience).
Willingness to study for a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship.
Bonus points for:
Experience with .NET Core, ASP.NET, Azure, Power Platform, or Agile ways of working.
Personal coding projects or Microsoft certifications.

Essential:

Experience & Qualifications
