The SAPOL Armoury provides a whole of SAPOL service delivery function through the timely acquisition, servicing, and repair of all SAPOL firearms (pistols and long-arms), ammunition (excluding STAR Group), Electronic Control Devices (ECD’s) and consumables. The SAPOL Armoury maintains supplies and evaluates firearms and ECD’s for departmental use and ensures an efficient service is maintained. The Armoury also receives, processes and subsequently destroys firearms subject to surrender or destruction.

The Armourer reports to the Senior Armourer and is accountable to the Manager of Armoury Services for the timely and effective maintenance, supply and evaluation of SAPOL firearms, Electronic Control Devices (ECD’s), ammunition and associated equipment controlled by the Section to ensure the efficient provision of these to SAPOL personnel. The incumbent services and repairs SAPOL firearms and ECD’s to ensure their safe, accurate and reliable operation, issues firearms to SAPOL members in accordance with relevant General Orders and approvals and provides technical advice on related issues.

The SAPOL Armoury sits within the Contracts, Impound and Armoury Unit of the Physical Assets Services Branch (PASB). PASB operates in a dynamic environment across seven areas: Capital Projects Unit, Major Projects Unit, Strategic Infrastructure & Assets Unit, Contracts, Impound and Armoury Unit, Strategic Operations: Fleet & Property, Facilities Management Unit, and Business Management Unit. Special Conditions

The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check.
The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent.
Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required.
The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL’s iEngage program.
Requirements

Completed apprenticeship in Gunsmithing or equivalent relevant trade qualifications, including Fitter Armourer (Armed Forces), Fitter & Turner with firearms courses, or Toolmaker/Machinist with firearms courses.
Salary
WMF5 - $1,758.26- $1,7+5.88 per week.
