Job Description
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) are recruiting for multiple Art Handlers within the Art Collections team for casual, part time, full time, ongoing and non-ongoing opportunities arising immediately and over the next year.
The Parliament House Art Collections (the Collections) are nationally significant and include more than 6,000 works spanning all genres of Australian art. The Art Collections perform a unique role in the life and working environment of Parliament House.
The Collections encompass the Historic Memorials Collection, Parliament House Art/Craft Program (architectural commissions), Official Gifts Collection, and Rotational Collection of contemporary artworks, including artworks by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists. The Art Collections team is responsible for the custody, care, development, and promotion of the Collections.
The successful applicants will work within a multidisciplinary team and are responsible for carrying out the handling, storage, movement and installation of artworks throughout the public and private areas of Parliament House.
Training will be provided.
We’re seeking highly motivated art handlers with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a busy team environment. Early-career art handlers looking for an opportunity within the arts sector as well as those with more experience are encouraged to apply.

Some relevant work experience in a gallery, museum or similar organisation is desirable
