Job Summary
Assistant Accountant within head office Finance Team in Laindon, Essex.
This is a full-time, office based, position working Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:00.
What will I be responsible for?
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, flexible, and capable Assistant Accountant with sound accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines. Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will take an active role in the monthly accounts production across 3 companies and be responsible for supporting and assisting in all aspects of a busy accounts department.
General duties include:
· Assist in production of Trial Balance, P & L, Balance Sheet, & Monthly Accounts information
· Nominal Ledger functions, VAT return, Fixed Assets, etc
· Support all aspects of the Accounts Assistants duties, and provide hands on guidance.
· Active role in supporting the Statutory Year End Audit process, and Group reporting requirements
· Support Management Accountant in accounting duties where necessary
· Flexibility to support across all ledgers to ensure Departmental deadlines are met
· Opportunity to be involved in Internal Audit process of our Internal Management System

If you have previous experience in a busy Accounts office, this could be the ideal role for you. The successful Assistant Accountant will also need the following skills and competencies:
· AAT Level 4 or above
· Strong IT skills in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, etc)
· Finance System skills (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central an advantage but not essential)
· Proactive, self-motivated and work on own initiative.
· Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
· Good teamwork and interpersonal skills to work alongside other finance colleagues.
· Excellent written and verbal communication.
