Job Details
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic banking team. This exciting role will offer you the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and financial expertise in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. This position will play a critical role in the overall financial management of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Controller, your primary responsibilities will include
• Assisting the Controller in managing all aspects of the company's financial operations, including the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Developing and maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions to ensure the company's financial security.
• Participating in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, and making recommendations for improvements.
• Coordinating with various departments to compile financial data and forecasts.
• Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and reporting variances.
• Supervising the accounting staff and overseeing their daily operations and responsibilities.
• Ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards.
• Assisting the Controller in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Controller position should possess the following
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting and an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
• A minimum of 5 years of proven accounting experience, preferably in a leadership role.
• Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and inspire team members.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills. Experience with accounting software and systems is essential.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
