About the Role
Our client, a well-established law firm in the Chicagoland area, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in school law and be comfortable handling both non-court advocacy and litigation-related work.
Key Responsibilities
· Handle various stages of litigation, including motion practice, discovery, and summary judgment
· Represent school district clients in non-court proceedings, including:
o EEOC matters
o Labor board proceedings
o Union arbitrations
o Teacher dismissal hearings
· Provide legal counsel on school governance, policies, and business practices
· Draft policies, contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents
· Conduct legal research and deliver practical, strategic advice to clients
· Assist in developing and executing legal strategies for favorable outcomes
· Communicate effectively with clients regarding case risks, strengths, and outcomes
Qualifications
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
· Active license to practice law in Illinois
· 1-3 years of relevant legal experience
· Strong legal writing, research, and communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple matters independently and work directly with clients
Preferred Experience
· Background or strong interest in school/education law
· Experience in labor & employment law, municipal law, or litigation
· Exposure to administrative or quasi-judicial proceedings
