Position Summary
Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) professionals provides advisory services including Accounting and regulatory support for accounting change and special matters; accounting processes and controls support.
Commodities Markets is a specialization within FAAS, focused on clients active in trading gas, power, oil, metals, agriculture, chemical and related products. Our clients include:
Global trading houses specializing in trading commodities
Trading divisions of large conglomerates, consumer goods and industrial companies buying and selling
commodities
Financial trading and broking companies
Industry bodies and infrastructure providers in the sector
We are looking for a professional to join EY FAAS team to help drive growth and support delivery teams, bring subject matter expertise around Commodity Market to our FAAS services.
The Senior should be competent to support a portfolio of clients and be responsible for the timeliness and quality of the work as per EY Global Standards for our FAAS team. While the Senior will be based out of our Gurugram or Bengaluru or Mumbai offices, the individual will be responsible for supporting EY practices and clients across the Global Market. Also, the individual will be required to travel to other countries (short-term) for executing the client engagements.
Primary Responsibilities
The Senior will support teams of FAAS professionals during engagements covering a broad spectrum of areas. The individual will be responsible for the following tasks:
Assisting EY team leaders in delivering engagements through understanding the current state of operations
through interviews and review of prior documentation including review of the current processes, systems, information flow and controls.
Supporting team leaders in gathering insights/industry practices and comparing them to the understanding of
the current state to define the gap
Work with engagement team and client leaders to develop detailed solution and implementation roadmap to
enhance business capabilities and operational effectiveness. Confer with personnel concerned to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures.
Developing client deliverables and engagement documentation
Developing, tracking and managing actual engagement economics versus the budget
Supporting the development and management of the relationships with external and internal (EY) clients
Participating in the proposal development process for prospective engagements
Supporting development of new service offerings and go-to-market strategies
Supporting other ad-hoc internal initiatives geared towards improving our group’s efficiency, effectiveness and
integration with other service lines
Qualifications, skills and experience
To qualify, candidates must have:
Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA (US) or ACCA (UK)
MBA degree is a plus
0-5 years of relevant consulting and/or industry work experience in one of the below:
Front, middle or back-office for a commodity trading operation with exposure to various
commodity transaction types (physical and financial) across multiple markets including understanding of risk and/or hedging strategies
Experience of working with one or more digital technology solutions such as data analytics,
RPA, artificial intelligence, and block chain
Experience with documentation of business requirements for a process/technology solution,
knowledge of software development lifecycle, and/or experience with solution design for a business problem
Current regulatory/ controls landscape associated with Commodity operations, including
control and process design, re-design and/or mitigation related activities
Experience with how commodity markets operate (power, gas, crude, metals and/or refined
products) and understanding of transaction lifecycle (front, middle, and back office)
Exposure to the physical commodities trading sector is essential. This experience may have
been gathered through exposure to professional services (audit, consulting, technology, out- sourcing) or operational roles in trading houses or banks.
Experience with key technology solutions used for commodity trading operations such as
Commodity Trading Risk Management systems (e.g., OpenLink, Aspect, EOS, Allegro, etc.)
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Good listening skills, inquisitive nature, intellectual curiosity and self-starter qualities
Effective written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex
information in a concise and clear manner
Ability to interface with all levels of management (EY and clients)
Experience working on multiple projects under tight deadlines
Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% to 80% of
