We are currently seeking a Azure Cloud-Native Database Administrator (DBA) - Remote to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

Job Description: Cloud-Native Database Administrator (DBA) – Microsoft Platform

Position Overview

We are seeking a Cloud-Native Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Microsoft Azure and SQL Server to manage and optimize our cloud-based database solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for database deployment, security, performance tuning, automation, and high availability in a cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

Deploy, configure, and manage Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure VMs, and other cloud-native database solutions.
Ensure database high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) using Geo-Replication, Failover Groups, and Backups.
Optimize cloud resources to balance performance and cost-efficiency.
Monitor database query performance, indexing, and execution plans to improve response times.
Use Azure Monitor, SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Query Store for database health checks.
Implement partitioning, caching, and sharding strategies for large-scale data operations.
Security & Compliance
Configure RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) and Azure AD authentication for secure access.
Implement Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Always Encrypted, and Data Masking.
Enforce GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2 compliance policies for cloud database security.
Support database deployments and updates using CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Terraform, ARM templates).
Develop PowerShell scripts, Azure Logic Apps, and SQL Agent Jobs for routine maintenance.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Configure automated backups, point-in-time restore, and long-term retention.
Develop failover and DR strategies across Azure regions.
Conduct regular failover tests to ensure disaster readiness.
Troubleshooting & Incident Response
Diagnose and resolve database connectivity, query failures, and cloud service outages.
Work with Microsoft Azure Support for escalated troubleshooting.
Establish incident response plans and database monitoring dashboards.
Required Skills & Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL.
Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance, Cosmos DB, or PostgreSQL on Azure.
Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell scripting, and automation tools.
Strong knowledge of database replication, indexing strategies, and query tuning.
Familiarity with DevOps practices for database automation.
Experience with Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, and Log Analytics.
Knowledge of cloud networking (VNET, Private Endpoints, Firewalls) for database security.
Microsoft Certifications such as Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300) or Azure Solutions Architect (preferred).
