Job Summary
The Team
The Collaborative Public Safety Programs Unit is a dedicated team of seven professionals who work closely with government partners, local communities, law enforcement, and social service agencies. Together, we design, implement, and manage a wide range of programs aimed at supporting at-risk individuals and promoting preventative, forward-thinking public safety planning. Our team coordinates the development and operation of these programs by harnessing the expertise and networks of local service providers, both inside and outside of government, as well as law enforcement and Indigenous communities.
The Role
As the Director, you'll report to the Executive Director of the Serious and Organized Crime Division, where you'll shape and guide strategic planning, set operational priorities, and oversee key initiatives and policies. In this leadership role, you'll manage a team of dedicated administrative professionals and analysts, while also coordinating outreach activities that support our programs.
You'll work closely with executive-level stakeholders, both within and outside the organization, navigating a specialized and sensitive environment. Managing multiple program budgets will also be a key responsibility.
To excel in this role, you'll need to bring a high level of tact and diplomacy, building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders. Your ability to influence, persuade, and align the concerns of the Ministry and other partners will be essential in driving our shared goals forward.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
Graduate degree in criminology, law, social sciences, political science, public or business administration or related discipline, plus 4 years or more recent (within the last 8 years) progressively responsible experience in strategic and operational planning. An equivalent combination of related experience, education and training may be considered.
Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/programs.
Experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content (e.g.: briefing notes, reports, Treasury board submissions).
Experience working with partners external to government in the review, development and negotiations of program delivery and policy.
Experience in business planning, contract management and financial management.
Experience developing and implementing memorandums of understanding and information sharing protocols.
Recent experience leading teams or projects. (Preference may be given to applicants with this experience in a unionized environment).
Preference may be given to applicants with:
Experience in the development and implementation of hub models or similar collaborative programs.
Experience in Countering Radicalization to Violence, and/or counterterrorism and/or Hate-Motivated Violence, and/or Ideologically Motivated Violent Extremism.
