The company operates the Western NSW Primary Health Network, which is one of 31 PHNs across Australia funded by the Australian Government. Established in July 2015, WNSW PHN’s key objectives are increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of primary health care services for patients in western NSW, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, and improving the coordination of care to ensure that patients receive the right care in the right place and at the right time. Our PHN serves a large geographic region covering rural and remote western NSW. More information on WNSW PHN is available on our website www.wnswphn.org.au

Our Values

Integrity, Collaboration, Professionalism, Respect, Innovation

Guiding Principles

Embed an Aboriginal health focus as a core priority within PHN activities
Foster genuine consumer, community, health professional and provider engagement
Ensure best value for money through commissioning services that provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time
Our partnership with regional stakeholders, Aboriginal community organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations is a fundamental building block for our role in supporting, shaping and sustaining a high quality integrated primary care system in our Region. 1 in 10 of our community identify as Aboriginal and improving health outcomes for our Aboriginal communities is a key priority in our Strategic Plan.

The board of directors comprises nine members with primary health care practice, policy, legal, business and financial experience as well as knowledge of the region’s community and healthcare sector. Western Health Alliance Limited is governed by a skills-based Board consisting of Directors who have the appropriate competencies, skills and experience aligned to the Skills and Attributes Matrix.

The preferred Candidates will need to agree to reference checks, credit checks, police checks and vulnerable persons checks.

The WHAL Board is now inviting expressions of interest from suitable candidates for a director to be appointed to the WHAL board, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of one General Practitioner Director. Under the WHAL constitution a nomination for the position of the director may be submitted by any person.

Diversity in the WHAL Board is a key requirement of the Company to ensure different perspectives are brought to the Board with a view to improving overall board performance. WHAL seeks to recruit and retain a diverse mix of Directors who are representative of the diversity in our local communities to ensure we have access to a broad range of ideas and continue to build an inclusive culture.

The Board has made a commitment that we retain a strong presence of Directors who have appropriate skills and experience aligned to the Skills and Attributes Matrix, and a demonstrated association with the Western and/or Far West NSW communities.
