Position Summary
Responsible for processing biweekly payroll and financial analysis (budget & accounting) for personnel.
Required Qualifications
• Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or like field; OR minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in payroll, accounting, or like field
• Perform independent research and analysis to resolve issues.
• Practices of reviewing financial documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Knowledge of financial record-keeping and budget practices and techniques, including financial analysis
• Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting and auditing financial documentation and transactions.
• Organize own work, ability to multitask, identify and set priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively in oral and written forms.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting.
• Experience processing payroll, including knowledge and understanding of payroll regulations.
• Ability to utilize tact, discretion, and independent judgment within established guidelines.
• Ability to lead, demonstrate initiative, and be an adept problem solver.
• Experience with budgets and performing financial analysis.
• Experience with financial audits.
• Experience working with applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
• Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team goals, objections, and activities.
• Interact successfully with diverse individuals from various backgrounds.
• Experience working with and or supporting diversity-related initiatives
• Experience working in a customer service environment.
Essential Functions
• Responsible for all payroll processing activities, including but not limited to: time & attendance tracking, manual pay calculations, changes in pay and deductions, benefit reconciliations, correspondence with supervisors and Human Resources staff.
• Routinely communicate timely and work with supervisors regarding time & attendance, payroll processing, and management of personnel budgets.
• Responsible for documenting and effectively communicating payroll & budget processes to ensure operational efficiency and a high level of customer service.
• Interpret, explain, and apply principles and practices of personnel budgeting, financial analysis, and complex payroll regulations as applicable.
• Read, comprehend, and explain payroll & budget policies and procedures to multiple groups of audiences that vary in levels of understanding.
• Assist with the review, evaluation, and development of policies and procedures related to payroll and personnel budgets, including training resources for supervisors.
• Prepare, maintain, and review payroll records, including journal entries and reconciliations of the general ledger, subsidiary accounts, and external account statements; and prepare correcting entries as necessary.
• Prepare financial reports, and supporting schedules and documentation in accordance with audit standards.
• Prepare and/or secure documentation of financial transactions to ensure compliance with audit standards, policies (internal & external), and internal procedures.
• Perform independent research and analysis projects as directed; compose reports and recommendations; prepare communication and responses.
• Assist with ongoing accounting functions as required, including month-end and year-end close functions.
• Exercise sound discretion and independent judgment within established guidelines.
• Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
