Auckland Council’s Building Consents department has an opportunity for a Building Consent Technical Coordinator to join our Project Assessment team. In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in supporting the building consent process by ensuring all lodgements are accurate, complete, in line with compliance requirements, and ready for timely assessment.


You'll be working closely with a team of Building Surveyors in a fast paced, high-volume environment, where attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills make all the difference.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:


Reviewing and preparing building consent applications to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
Ensuring all data entry, documentation, and descriptions are accurate and complete
Supporting customers by guiding them through the lodgement process with clarity and care
Working closely with Building Surveyors to maintain efficient workflows and meet statutory timelines
Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and meetings on consent strategy
Anticipating team needs and helping balance workloads in a fast paced environment

This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative capabilities, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for supporting others. You’ll enjoy helping customers navigate complex requirements and play a key role in ensuring that building consent applications are accurate, complete, and ready to move efficiently through the system.


You’ll be highly organised, proactive, and confident managing competing priorities in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Your ability to build relationships, engage effectively with stakeholders, and bring clarity to complex processes will be key to your success.


While experience in a regulatory or building related environment is an advantage, it’s your drive to learn, motivation to improve processes, and commitment to delivering high quality work that will set you apart in this role.


Key skills and qualities we are looking for:


High level administration and data entry skills, with confidence in Microsoft Office Suite
Understanding of construction plans and specifications (or eagerness to learn)
Strong organisational skills and the ability to anticipate and support team needs
Prioritising tasks under pressure while maintaining accuracy
A proactive, engaged mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
Knowledge of, or exposure to, regulatory environments or building related fields would be advantageous

This role has a remuneration range of $63,087 - $67,000 (Based on skills and experience)


Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered.
