Job Summary

The Business Analyst plays an integral role in our strategic and operational capability at Just Energy. The Business Analyst works as part of a service group who act as a resource base for all functional areas of the company. This in turn enables Analysts to gain exposure to many areas of Just Energy’s business and develop a broad-based experience that prepares them for a variety of other growth-oriented roles in the company.

The successful candidate will need strong SQL and analytical skills, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively with business partners. The successful candidate will have a blend of highly analytical skills, proficiency in systems with a view to full automation and soft skills to work with business partners.

This role will require the Business Analysts to lead or participate in projects such as technology upgrades, system migrations, and business process improvement initiatives. Cross functionally, the position works with the Sales, Sales Operations, Pricing, Regulatory, Legal, Customer Service, and Operations teams to coordinate and ensure assignments are executed successfully. This role is highly visible across the company and will require a driven leader to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support product launches, including setup, billing configurations, and operational readiness
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements; prepare BRDs and process flows for stakeholder approval
• Lead system enhancements and process improvement initiatives from planning through implementation
• Ensure all initiatives follow defined processes, standards, and governance frameworks
• Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation, and post-launch validation
• Communicate project updates, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders, including leadership
• Perform ad-hoc reporting, data analysis, and process documentation to support decision-making
• Design and document new or enhanced processes and lead knowledge transfer sessions to ensure smooth transition to core functional teams post-release
• Provide support for product-related production issues as needed, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
• Quick learner with strong logical and analytical thinking
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams
• Experience gathering business requirements and preparing BRDs
• Knowledge of business process frameworks and adherence to established standards
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences
• Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in evolving business environments
• Strong SQL skills required; database experience is a plus

Years of Experience:
• 2-4 years of experience in a business analysis, change management, or operations role
• Some experience of retail gas and/or electric industry experience is preferred.

Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience
• PMP certification is a plus

Technology Requirements:
• Intermediate to advanced SQL and Power BI skills
• Advanced in MS Office (Word, Lucid, PowerPoint, Excel etc.)
• Billing systems exposure preferred

Compensation: $63,070 - $85, 140 CAD Annual *This range reflects base pay only. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company & personal performance. Please note the compensation is listed in compliance with Ontario law and is specific to CA. It does not apply to similar roles based in the United States.
