Primary objective
The Senior Business Manager provides high level leadership, advice and management support in the areas of finance, procurement,
administration, infrastructure and human resource management for staff in a busy and demanding school environment, including
liaison with service providers.
Context statement
Bakewell Primary School is a large Independent Public School located in Palmerston. The school has an enrolment of approximately
650 students from Preschool to Year 6 with 19% identifying as Aboriginal, and 14% as English as a Second Language/Dialect. Key
initiatives at Bakewell Primary School include ******** Instruction, 1:1 iPad Learning Program, and Chinese Language. Bakewell
Primary is an approved Charles Darwin University Teaching School. Staff at Bakewell reflect on teaching practices and engage in

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and supervision of the non-teaching staff within the school to ensure the effective provision of
procurement, administrative, infrastructure, budgets, financial management and classroom support services for the school.
2. Provide leadership and high-level policy development and advice for the Principal, Leadership Team and School Board of
financial, budgetary, human resource management, departmental and legislative requirements.
3. Provide high level leadership of appropriate school and business support systems and non-teaching staff that provides for cost
effective, timely and appropriate service delivery, addressing all school improvement goals.
4. Manage an ongoing program of continuous improvement for school support systems and processes including proactive data
collection, analysis and performance monitoring and reporting.
5. Liaise and negotiate with service providers to coordinate delivery of school services and support achievement of school and
departmental strategic objectives.
6. Coordinate, facilitate and implement infrastructure and asset management within the school, including contract management
and oversight for repairs and maintenance programs, Workplace Health Safety, security, use of school facilities and equipment.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in the management and leadership of budgets, financial management, payroll, resources, records
and assets within the organisation.
2. Demonstrated ability to analyse and provide high level advice and service delivery to facilitate efficient and effective
operations including and leadership of a large service delivery team including the management and coordination of staff, human
resources, recruitment and contract management according to Fair Work.
3. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and communicate
in complex situations while maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of all involved.
4. Demonstrated experience in facilitating and implementing infrastructure and asset management, including oversight for repairs
and maintenance programs, Workplace Health Safety, security, use of facilities and equipment.
5. Experience in overseeing the management of a large service, such as Out of School Hours Care, in accordance with the National
Quality Framework
Desirable
1. Tertiary or Certificate qualification in Financial Management, Business, Accounting or equivalent.
2. A working knowledge of current education systems and school environments.
