We are excited to announce newly created Campus Support Team Leader roles at Deakin University , with one position based at the Burwood Campus . We are inviting Expressions of Interest from passionate, experienced professionals ready to step into a junior management and supervisory position within the dynamic university security and campus support environment.
These roles present a rare opportunity to lead, support and develop on-site teams , ensuring high standards of service, safety, and staff performance across a vibrant and diverse university setting.
About the Roles
These positions are designed for experienced, team-focused professionals with a background in leadership and workforce management. The roles will operate on a rotating roster , with one week of day shifts (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM) followed by one week of afternoon shifts (4:00 PM – Midnight), including occasional weekend work as required.
An attractive remuneration package , including above Award payments , will be offered to the successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: First point of escalation after hours, ensuring consistency and accountability across the team.
Rostering & Workforce Planning: Manage shift schedules, attendance tracking, and leave planning to ensure seamless campus support coverage.
Training & Development: Identify training needs, facilitate upskilling, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Compliance Oversight: Ensure all compliance requirements are met, including licensing, inductions, and ongoing training.
Performance Management: Monitor and support team performance, provide feedback, and implement improvement plans as needed.
Event Support: Act as a lead representative during key university events, managing operations and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Reporting: Prepare timely weekly and monthly reports for internal and client submission.
Safety First: Promote and reinforce Zero Harm principles and lead internal audits for safe work practices.
Employee Liaison: Be a trusted point of contact for team members, supporting employee wellbeing and facilitating communication with HR and internal stakeholders.
About You
Proven experience in managing and leading teams , preferably in a 24/7 operational or campus support environment.
VIC Security Licence Unarmed & Crowd Control (required), Control Room & Monitoring (advantage).
Current knowledge of work health and safety and risk management practices
Knowledge of current industry standards and requirements
Proven experience in emergency response procedures
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Previous experience in operation of systems within a Control Room environment (Integriti/Avigilon).
High level of computer skills (including all Microsoft products)
Working with Children’s Check (Employee) – Required
Current Victorian Driver’s License
Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
