SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the Bay of Plenty Regional Council Toi Moana. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of leadership, with experience in local and central government, and a proven ability to drive strategic change.

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council Toi Moana is a high-performing organisation responsible for leading the sustainable management of the region's natural resources. We work closely with six territorial authorities to safeguard the environment now and into the future.
The region has a diverse cultural dynamic, with the largest number of Iwi in Aotearoa. The Māori economy is an increasingly important contributor to the regional economy, and we consistently perform well across economic indicators.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the organisation to achieve its community outcomes, including a healthy environment, future-ready communities, connected and enabled communities, sustainable development, and the pursuit of excellence.
Develop and implement effective policies and strategies that align with central government initiatives.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including iwi, territorial authorities, and central government agencies.
Maintain a culture of service and accountability, ensuring the well-being of the community and the organisation.
Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organisation, leveraging the skills and expertise of the workforce.
Requirements
Proven experience as a chief executive officer or in a similar senior leadership role.
Strong understanding of local and central government, including policy and regulatory frameworks.
Ability to build trust and credibility with multiple stakeholders, including iwi, territorial authorities, and central government agencies.
Experience in driving strategic change and implementing organisational reforms.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and build consensus.
