About the role:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) leads the technology, digital, and data direction for Southbase. They ensure the Southbase systems, tools, and digital projects, support the company’s goals and help us work smarter, safer, and more efficiently. The CIO oversees internal IT, drives digital transformation, introduces responsible AI, and ensures our technology is secure, reliable, and ready for future growth. They build strong, capable teams, support good decision‑making across the business, and manage the financial performance of Performance Technologies. They also promote Southbase’s digital capability to clients and the wider construction industry. The CIO will work closely with our JV partner Built, to leverage off their IT, data collection and measurement to drive productivity.
The CIO must lead by example and positively contribute to the team, championing the Company’s ‘Inside the Box’ culture.
Skills required:
Essential; Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, business, or a related field.
Essential; Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Information Systems (MIS), Technology Management, or similar.
Demonstrated ability to turn complex technology, data, and digital concepts into clear, actionable insights for executives, frontline teams, and external partners.
Possess the commercial acumen to develop Preformance TechnologiesProven experience leading large‑scale organisational change, with a focus on user adoption, business readiness, and measurable improvement.Skilled in navigating risk, compliance, and assurance considerations in fast‑evolving technology environments, ensuring robust decision‑making.
Exceptional relationship‑building and influence skills, enabling alignment and collaboration across diverse business units, clients, and industry stakeholders.
Advanced capability in building and developing high‑performing, multidisciplinary technology teams with a strong culture of accountability and innovation.
Strong verbal and written skills
Strong commercial mindset with the ability to evaluate opportunities, shape service offerings, and grow technology‑driven revenue streams.
