Legal Secretary / Litigation Secretary – Civil Litigation

Location: El Segundo, CA | Full-Time | On-Site

A premier civil litigation law firm in El Segundo, CA, with a national reputation for trial excellence, is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary / Litigation Secretary to join its growing team.

This is a new position created due to growth — not a backfill. The current secretary is at capacity, and this role is designed to provide essential support so that attorneys can stay focused on high-stakes litigation while ensuring deadlines are met and filings are accurate.

Responsibilities

Support 3–4 litigation attorneys in a fast-paced, trial-driven practice.
Manage complex calendars across hearings, depositions, meetings, and court deadlines.
Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents in California state and federal courts, including Superior Court and Court of Appeal.
Track litigation timelines and procedural deadlines to ensure compliance.
Schedule and manage Zoom hearings and depositions.
Draft, edit, and format correspondence, pleadings, and motions.
Coordinate travel arrangements for attorneys.
Provide backup phone coverage with clear, professional communication.
Maintain and organize case files using iManage, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
Requirements

5+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary in a civil litigation law firm.
Proficiency in California state and federal court filing procedures (including e-filing).
Skilled in Court of Appeal and Superior Court filings.
Strong knowledge of litigation timelines, rules, and deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and document management systems such as iManage.
Highly organized with excellent time management and ability to support multiple attorneys.
Clear, professional communication skills for client and court interactions.
Spanish bilingual a plus, not required.
Candidates must be based in the Los Angeles area with a reliable commute to El Segundo (South Bay/West LA/Long Beach preferred).
Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $80,000 – $95,000 base salary depending on experience.
401(k) with matching: 100% match on the first 3%, 50% match on the next 2%.
