Job Description
General laboratory duties, including but not limited to the receipt of specimens and the registration of requests into the laboratory information system (basic keyboard/data entry skills) and maintenance of the work area including cleaning and restocking of consumables.
Provide assistance to scientific and technical laboratory staff when they are performing their technical duties in the laboratory.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'Your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Experience in the collection of diagnostic samples from a range of patients including children and babies.
Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of pre-analytical processing for the performance of laboratory testing.
Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail, ability to focus in a busy, complex environment.
Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
This position will be required to work shifts at Maryborough Hospital as well as Hervey Bay Hospital.
The laboratory delivers a 24-hour, 7-day service. In this workplace, all staff are contracted to work any rostered shift within the 24-hour 7-day roster period, including overtime as required. This facilitates the progressive review of staffing and shift arrangements to accommodate changes in workload and service requirements.
To be eligible for permanent appointment to Pathology Queensland applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency. To be eligible for temporary appointment applicants must provide proof that they can legally work in Australia
