Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient CNC Programmer/Operator to manage our Biesse Skill 1536 G FT_M. The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, operation, and daily maintenance of the CNC nesting cell, ensuring that all millwork components are machined to exact specifications while maximizing material yield and shop efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Cut List Generation: Develop accurate cut lists from project designs, ensuring all grain directions, edge-banding allowances, and material thicknesses are accounted for.
Optimization: Utilize CNC software to nest parts for maximum material yield, reducing waste and optimizing machine run-time.
Software Proficiency: Program directly into BiesseWorks to generate precise G-code for the machine.
Technical Troubleshooting: Review and "dry run" code to identify potential collisions or machining errors before the material is loaded onto the table.
Machine Operation: Set up and operate the Biesse Skill 1536 G FT_M for high-precision nesting of wood-based panels (MDF, Particle Board, Plywood, and Solid Surface).
Tooling Management: Perform tool changes, monitor tool wear, and calibrate tool lengths to ensure clean cuts and edge quality.
File Management: Load and execute CNC programs & software (BiesseWorks/bSolid). Verify that the correct programs are matched to the corresponding material and project.
Quality Control: Inspect the first piece of every run for dimensional accuracy against shop drawings. Ensure all parts are labeled correctly for the assembly team.
Material Optimization: Manage the vacuum table zones and spoil-board health to ensure maximum suction and prevent part movement during high-speed routing.
Maintenance: Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance (greasing, cleaning sensors, and clearing dust extraction lines) to minimize downtime.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve minor mechanical or software issues during the production run.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of experience operating 3-axis CNC machines (specifically Biesse or similar flat-table nesting machines).
Software: Proficiency in BiesseWorks or bSolid is highly preferred. Ability to read and interpret complex architectural millwork drawings.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of different router bits (compression, down-cut, diamond) and feed speeds for various substrates.
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot defects in material or machining early in the process.
Physical Requirements: Ability to safely handle large wood sheets (including 4' × 8' and 5' × 10' panels) and stand for extended periods in a shop environment.
Performance Indicators
Yield Efficiency: Minimizing material waste through smart nesting and spoil-board management.
Accuracy: Zero-rework policy due to machining errors.
Uptime: Consistently meeting daily production targets through proactive machine maintenance.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
