Your role


The Commander, Reintegration & Work Readiness leads a high‑impact operational and strategic environment focused on preparing people in custody and under community supervision for successful reintegration. In this role, you will shape statewide reintegration direction, drive evidence‑based programs, and influence critical decision‑making that supports reduced reoffending and stronger community outcomes.

In this role you will provide expert leadership across correctional and residential facilities, oversee significant operational and program delivery functions, and build strong internal and external partnerships that create meaningful education, training and employment opportunities. You will lift capability and culture, and ensure strong financial, operational and governance stewardship across a diverse and broad service environment


What you’ll do


As the Commander, Reintegration & Work Readiness, you will:

Lead programs, services and partnerships that support effective reintegration, education, training and employment pathways for people in custody and in the community.
Oversee the operation of correctional and residential centres, ensuring resources are managed efficiently and services meet legislative, policy and reoffending‑reduction objectives.
Ensure supervision and program delivery align with safe, secure management and community safety requirements.
Provide high‑level strategic and operational advice on emerging issues, risks and major incidents, and implement remedial actions.
Mentor, support and performance‑manage senior managers to drive capability, accountability and high performance.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to review and enhance service delivery, implement reforms and strengthen reintegration outcomes.
Lead engagement with employers, industries and community service providers to create strong vocational and employment pathways for inmates.
Oversee CSNSW’s Premier’s Priority reducing‑reoffending initiatives, Work Release program, and strategies supporting successful transition into employment and community life.
Oversee governance, compliance, ethical practice and operational performance reviews, including policy, business continuity and legal reporting requirements.

What we’re looking for


Strong experience managing reintegration, residential facility operations or offender programs in complex correctional or detention settings.
Proven capability leading large, diverse teams, with a commitment to developing high‑performing managers.
Demonstrated experience operating in high‑risk, politically sensitive and highly scrutinised environments.
Strong strategic thinking and experience contributing to organisational planning, reform and continuous improvement.
Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills across government, industry and community sectors.
Sound financial management capability, with experience overseeing substantial budgets and complex resource environments.
A commitment to ethical practice, cultural capability, inclusivity and fostering environments that support staff, inmates and offenders.

Corrective Services NSW delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce reoffending and create safer communities. We manage inmates in custody and supervise offenders in the community, working closely with courts, releasing authorities and partner agencies to support rehabilitation, reintegration and community safety.
