Responsibilities
Interamerican Bank is seeking a Commercial Loan Assistant who will provide administrative and operational support to the commercial lending area of the bank
The Commercial Loan Assistant will provide customer service at the highest levels to customers, which will include performing research and resolving account/customer issues
The candidate will work closely with Commercial Lenders and Senior Lending Officer in providing telephone and in person service to commercial banking customers
Responsible for supporting Commercial Lenders and Senior Loan Officers with large and complex loan portfolios by assisting in the management of customer relationships by processing transactions, renewing loans, resolving account/customer issues, and providing other administrative support
Performs functions using a variety of banking and lending system applications
Coordinates the preparation of required loan documentation for new loans and renewals
Coordinates the booking of loan documents and clears loan exceptions
Works closely with Commercial Lenders and Senior Loan Officers to assist with new loans and renewals of loans by obtaining financial data, drafting letters and agreements, clearing exceptions, and obtaining collateral documentation
Coordinates with the CPA's, attorneys, insurance agents, etc. of assigned clients to resolve specific exceptions and transactional issues
Serves as first point of contact for commercial customers (i.e., primary contact for all customer service issues)
Reviews all loan documents to ensure documentation is approved and in compliance with regulations and company policy; maintains knowledge of current lending policies, procedures and regulations
Attends and completes all necessary training
Responsible for preparing multiple departmental reports required by the Senior Loan Officer for presentation to the Board of Directors
Keeps the Commercial Lenders informed of any issues/problems that may arise and need attention
Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of banking products and services to identify, refer, and cross sell opportunities
May assist Commercial Loan Officers and Senior Loan Officers manage the deposit relationship and related services (i.e., wires, account set up, NSF management, approvals, signatures, etc.)
Monitor overdrafts and inform Commercial Loan Officers for a decision
May assist clients with draws, transfers, and loan payments with appropriate authorization
Assist Commercial Loan officers with letters of credit
May support asset-based lending areas by reviewing accounts utilizing general accounting, clerical, and auditing skills
May monitor past due reports and alert Commercial Banker on the status of past dues and any pending issues.; coordinates with designated individuals to collect past due principal and interest payments and ensure payment
May assist in various cash management supporting roles including account setup, direct servicing to customers, account maintenance, balancing, and international wires
Organize staff meetings
Perform other related duties as required
