As a Commercial Procurement Advisor, you will support and, at times, lead the delivery of complex commercial and procurement projects for government agencies. You'll model good government procurement practice and help agencies achieve best value for money across the whole of life of their procurement activities.



You'll be part of the Advisory Business Services team within NZGP- a highly skilled, deployable group of commercial specialists who provide hands on support and advice on strategic, high priority initiatives. The work is varied, fast paced, and highly collaborative, offering exposure across a wide range of sectors and markets.



In this role, you will:

Support and lead commercial and procurement projects, helping agencies plan, structure and deliver successful outcomes
Provide sound, pragmatic procurement advice, including procurement planning, strategy development, documentation review and supplier engagement
Contribute to high value or high profile initiatives, injecting commercial capability and momentum where required
Engage effectively with markets and suppliers, supporting negotiations and the resolution of commercial challenges
Build procurement capability across government, sharing knowledge, supporting others, and promoting best practice

You will bring:

Proven experience in commercial procurement, commercial advisory, or commercial project roles
Strong commercial judgement and "commercial nous", with a principled, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
Experience contributing to strategic, high-profile and/or high-value procurement or commercial initiatives
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across different agencies or environments
Strong client-service focus with well-developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear, high-quality commercial documentation
In-depth understanding of procurement principles and processes, or the ability to quickly build this expertise
A relevant qualification or professional membership (e.g. MCIPS or World Commerce Contracting), or working towards one
You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
You must be able to gain and maintain a Confidential security clearance
