Job description, work day and responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Construction Works Package Manager (Civils) to manage the planning, execution, and delivery of Civil Balance of Plant works on our Onshore Renewables Construction projects located throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK.
Responsibilities:
• Contract Management: Prepare contract work scopes, negotiate contracts with Tier 1 Contractors, OEMs, and suppliers, and prepare budgets prior to FID.
• Site Execution: Ensure the safe and efficient on-site execution of projects (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) on schedule, within budget, and to defined quality standards.
• Progress Monitoring: Monitor and report on project progress, risks, opportunities, issues, key decisions, and financial performance on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Safety Culture: Adhere to, understand, and advocate the highest standards of Health and Safety legislation and practices, leading the Safety Culture during construction.
• Team Management: Manage an integrated team of SSE functional resources, OEMs, on-site sub-contractors, and other external stakeholders to ensure coherent delivery to project targets.
About You
• Education and Qualifications: An HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Formal project management training would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
• Proven Experience: A proven track record in industrial-scale Civil Engineering preferably in complex capital projects covering project refinement and set up, planning, estimating, scheduling, risk, quality, commercial management, negotiations, and project delivery and commissioning.
• Leadership Abilities: Effective leadership skills and experience working with multiple Contractors/Subcontractors to drive construction activities to time and budget.
• Quality Control Knowledge: Previous supervisory or management experience and knowledge of quality assurance and controls associated with Civil Engineering projects.
• Contract Management Expertise: Proven experience working within various contracting methodologies and frameworks (e.g., FIDIC/NEC3).
