PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
As part of Power and Water’s commercial activities, be part of the Supply Relationship Management team to enhance the level of professional
contract management by managing ‘general ‘or ‘enabling’ contracts for the Corporation and assisting the Works Management (WM) and
Project Delivery Management (PDM) Contract Managers to implement the Contract Management Framework to achieve greater contract
outcomes and value for money. As part of this team carry out the Contract Manager role for General contracts and provide strategic and
tactical contract management advice to WM and PDM.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The “WHAT” to be delivered
Contract Management: Carry out the Contract Manager role for General contracts including all start-up, performance management and
close out meetings and liaise between contract user and supplier to ensure services are delivered in accordance with the contract and
the organisational procurement and contract management policies.
Contract Governance and Advice: Assist in implementation and monitoring of Power and Water’s Contract Management Framework for
WM and PDM Contract Managers. Provide mentoring and guidance to those teams and ensure they comply with the Contract
Management Framework. Support Category Managers to deliver their plans through expert advice of knowledge of contractor and
contract performance.
Continuous improvement: Devise strategies to improve contract management performance to assist in delivery of operational and
financial goals of the Corporation. Through continuous monitoring, identify areas of recurrent issues in contract management activities
and develop and implement strategies to improve contract delivery outcomes, with the Category Managers. Upskill and support Contract
Managers in PDM and WM to enable them to manage their contracts including issues, disputes, variations and risks, and undertaking
negotiations with suppliers as required.
Instruments and Reporting: Assist in drafting policies, procedures and driving the compilation of reports on contract management
compliance activities for management/ executive committees.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders: Establish and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external
stakeholders and suppliers by providing a consistent approach to enquiries and assisting WM and PDM contract managers to resolve
issue and disputes, and undertake variations and risks, and negotiations with suppliers as required.
