What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, the Controller is responsible for overseeing the corporate accounting and accounts payable functions and credit and collections management of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk.

Location: In Office based out of our Vancouver, BC Head Office.

Key Responsibilities:

At a high level you will

Provide comprehensive policies and procedures to ensure consistent internal controls across the organization and drive collaborative changes, where necessary, to effect this.
Participate in cross-functional teams and initiatives as required to drive business outcomes that align with and enable the company to deliver on its strategic plans.
Lead, mentor, and develop the Controllership team, providing guidance and support for professional development.
Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Oversee the operations of the corporate accounting and payables functions, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the function's goals and objectives.
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
Oversee the execution of the accounts payable function, supporting collaboration between the payables and procurement teams and identifying operational and technology enhancements.
Provide oversight to accounts receivable roles across business units, including the review of periodic credit and collections management activities and reporting.
Ensure consistent application of accounting and credit policies and procedures, and refine policies as needed.
Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting processes to produce accurate and timely reporting for the business and the Board of Directors.
Work alongside the Corporate Reporting team to provide support to the external auditors to enable a successful audit.
Leverage the organization’s financial knowledge to work collaboratively with the finance team, operational team, and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
Support management of the relationship with insurance providers and brokers to secure appropriate coverage for the company’s assets and operations in alignment with the organization’s risk appetite and risk tolerance.
Collaborate with legal advisors, government agencies, and independent auditors to ensure compliance with regulations.
Who You Are:

We would love to hear from you if you have:

Designated accountant (CPA – CA, CGA or CMA) with an undergraduate degree in business or equivalent.
A skilled financial leader, with a proven history of success driving efficiencies, collaborative change, and business discipline within the Controllership function that includes accounts payable and credit and collections management of a large multi-jurisdictional business, and alignment to the Metrie business model.
Experience working with and reporting to Senior Leadership, Executives, and the Board of Directors.
Demonstrated process improvement and change leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to work through complex business issues and demonstrate influence across a broad, decentralized environment.
Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate the relationship between the business and the numbers.
Demonstrated leadership skills, including multiple years of experience managing teams of designated Finance professionals across different workstreams.

In adherence to the principle of pay transparency, we are pleased to disclose the base pay for this full-time position at Metrie. The base pay range for this role is set at CAD $145,000.00 $165,000.00. It is important to note that this position may also qualify for discretionary bonuses or commission payments. The specific base pay within the range will be contingent upon an individual's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Furthermore, it is essential to highlight that our remuneration ranges are established based on the role, level, and location. Please note that the actual pay may vary and can be higher or lower than the posted range based on these factors.
