About the team
The Utilities Facilities Delivery team is responsible for the project management and construction of capital works for the City’s sewage treatment plant (STP) projects including new/update and renewals. This consists of constructing new bioreactors, clarifiers, primary treatment facilities, switchboard and blower buildings, and all associated civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and controls works across four STPs.
About your new role
The Coordinator Principal Engineer is a critical member of our team who ensures design activities are implemented in accordance with the City's project requirements and agreed collaborative partnership framework.
Manage a high-performing team of Senior Project Engineers and Principal’s Design Partner to support the successful delivery of the Infrastructure Delivery Program.
Ensure the works are designed in accordance with state safety and environmental legislation.
Ensure the works are designed in accordance with the project specifications and the approved Business case to ensure high-quality outcomes are achieved.
Ensure all key stakeholders (internal and external) are consulted during the project life cycle, including but is not limited to our internal STP Process and Operations Teams.
Provide accurate design status reporting, including forecasting expenditure and timelines are managed in accordance with the City's expectations.
About the opportunity
Council recently endorsed the teams’ Infrastructure Delivery Program (IDP) which involves multiple Sewage treatment plant upgrades through a long-term collaborative arrangement. The total value of the program is $+55 million over 7-10 years and will concentrate on the establishment of new plants on existing sites to increase capacity and capability to our ever-expanding City.
The City is looking for an experienced principle design engineer to lead a team of highly skilled senior project engineers through to the completion of this program. This role is a key member of our team who will ensure design activities are implemented in accordance with the City's project requirements and agreed collaborative partnership framework.
A remuneration package will be discussed with the successful candidate and will be recommended based on skills, experience and suitability for the role.
We're looking for people who have:
You will have a minimum of 10 years’ design management and engineering experience in the delivery water or sewerage treatment infrastructure. You will have design/constructability and project management experience, together with knowledge and expertise in more than one relevant engineering discipline involving water or sewerage infrastructure delivery. Ideally you would have lead delivery of designs and associated deliverables for numerous large STP upgrades.
The following personal and technical attributes are desirable for this role:
Comprehensive understanding of the technical and multidisciplinary aspects of STPs.
Ability to plan and organise self and others to ensure the timely completion of deliverables including drawings, design reports, data sheets.
Deliver a high-quality service to internal and external customers, and understands and reacts responsively to customer expectations.
Highly developed language, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills - including mediation and conflict resolution.
Highly developed negotiations skills.
Ability to create a high-performance team and foster good relationships between the client and contractor.
Ability to prioritise problems, think laterally, gather and analyse information to identify symptoms and causes, and engage the right people to reach better outcomes.
