About the role

We are seeking a Coordinator, Projects who will be responsible in managing and coordinating the successful delivery of assigned capital projects, programs or precincts in Council’s Capital Works Program.

In this position you will play a critical role in establishing and managing the PMO Projects Team by:

Leading, managing and mentoring a team of Project Managers to deliver Council’s annual program of works.
Embedding the adoption of Council’s project management methodology and framework.
Working with the Coordinator Project Management Office and Manager City Projects to implement change.
You will manage the overall delivery (scope, schedule, spend, dependencies) of capital works programs across Parks, Infrastructure, and Buildings, and serve as an escalation point for project related issues. Additionally, this position will entail program management and resource/capacity management.

As a member of the Project Management Office leadership team, you will proactively support management in the process of workplace reform, service competitiveness, and the achievement of objectives by proactively working to identify process, policy, and operational improvements.

You will engage with project managers, asset owners and specialist staff from across Council, as well as with contractors and members of the community.

About the person

To be successful in this position, you will have:

Qualifications in Project Management, Engineering or Architecture
Experience working within a Project Management Office
Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) certification or membership preferred
Contract management experience, preferably with GC21 suite of contracts.
Extensive knowledge and experience in Capital works projects methodologies and best practice
A demonstrated understanding of the current political, economic and social issues and future challenges in Local Government
Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management and negotiation skills, including the ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments.
