The project:
Mace North America is seeking a Cost Consultancy Assistant to work on capital projects in our Life Science and Manufacturing & Technology Sectors.

Delivers on Operational Excellence (OE) Knowledge Transfer & Capability Building strategy and services for allocated projects and programmes. Provides the vision of Knowledge Transfer & Capability Building on allocated project and/or programme. Responsible for supporting (area/team), using basic/establsihed technical capabilities.
You’ll be responsible for:
Applies value management techniques at the outset of projects.
Assists in estimating and cost planning activities.
Observes the procurement and selection of main contractor.
Assists the preparation of the contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses.
Measures and provides valuations of work carried out, adjusting variations in accordance with the terms of the contract and agree with the contractor.
Assists cost control and reporting services during the contract.
Identifying costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.
Observes and assists participate in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers.
Provides guidance in issues of certificate of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions and approvals.
Provides informal guidance to more junior roles.
Develops working relationships with (range of) internal stakeholders.
Works with team members providing operational delivery of team/regional strategy etc.
You’ll need to have:
Ability to assist in estimating and cost planning activities.
Ability to assist in contract valuations and cost reporting activities.
Analytical skills.
Digitally Competent.
Working towards a degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).
Ability to be effective communicator with all stakeholders.
Develops effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
Good interpersonal skills.
Problem solving and analytical skills for resolving cost and contract administration and procurement issues within consult.
You’ll also have:
Some knowledge of cost planning, budgeting and estimating.
Negotiation skills.
Interest in the principals of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
Ability to seek opportunities for implementing improved working practices.
Champions and operates within an inclusivity environment.
Understands personal strengths and weaknesses, seeks learning and support where appropriate.
Some understanding of industry best practice.
Some understanding of present-day issues such as Sustainability, Social Value and Carbon Reduction.
Note: The estimated salary for this position is $70,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
