Job Summary
The Team
The Abbotsford Justice Access Centre, situated on the 2nd floor of the Abbotsford Court House, is supported by a dynamic team that includes administrative staff, interviewers, family justice counsellors, and a child support officer. This diverse team works collaboratively to provide comprehensive services to individuals and families dealing with separation or divorce.

The Role
Join our team as a Justice Interviewer and make a meaningful impact by guiding individuals through the justice system. You’ll assess client needs, provide critical information, and offer referrals to essential services. Your role includes gathering and verifying information, particularly in sensitive cases like family violence, to ensure clients receive the support they need.

This frontline position involves limited case management, offering brief yet impactful services or counseling to resolve issues quickly. If you're compassionate, detail-oriented, and ready to make a difference, this role is for you.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

A recognized bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six months related work or volunteer experience in a human service field (e.g., Indigenous organizations and community services, counselling, community service agencies, employment assistance, dispute resolution, court services, legal services); OR
A two - year diploma in a related field such as social sciences, paralegal, or dispute resolution with a minimum of two years related work or volunteer experience in a human service field (e.g., Indigenous organizations and community services, counselling, community service agencies, employment assistance, dispute resolution, court services, legal services); OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

One year or more experience working with families in a human service field.
Completion of one or both of the following Justice Institute of BC courses:
Family Justice Services in British Columbia – FAMJ-1000 (formerly FAM 1+0 or CORR 606)
Family Violence: Impact on Separation and Divorce – FAMJ-1002 (formerly FAM 1+1 or CORR 605)
Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations status or non-status, Inuit and/or Metis), with the required combination of education and experience.

Provisos /Willingness statement(s):

Required to deliver service in person (office setting) and by phone using a telephone/software system.
Potential for receiving information related to significant family conflict, threat of violence, or child neglect or abuse.
Occasional travel may be required (e.g., training, meetings, service delivery).

About this Position:
There are currently five (5) vacancies in Abbotsford and one (1) in Chilliwack.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.
