We are now looking for an individual looking to step into Underwriting to join the credit team. There will be full training & onboarding provided so if you are looking to start career in underwriting or wanting to develop your skills further then this is a great opportunity.
Responsibilities and duties will include:
Evaluate creditworthiness and risks of business loan applications by analysing financial data including income, business bank statements, HMRC overviews & contractual agreements
Utilise financial and credit data, market trends, and industry data to assess risk and make an informed lending decision to pass onto the risk team
Contact the applicant by telephone to discuss findings during the underwriting process and address queries raised. Be able to effectively extract the necessary information from the client, whilst building rapport, relationships and understanding of the client’s needs from their loan application journey
Maintain an understanding of and comply with all relevant lending regulations, including those from financial regulatory bodies and internal lending policies
Prepare and present loan recommendations to the risk committee, detailing applicants’ credit histories, financial strengths/ weaknesses and other relevant factors
Collaborate with Business Development Executives and the Broker Management team as well as applicants to obtain necessary information and resolve any issues with applications
Provide excellent customer service to loan applicants by promptly responding to questions and concerns from loan applicants, explaining the underwriting process, and communicating decisions effectively
Essential Skills and Competencies
Prior Fintech, Banking or Financial Services experience
Analytical mindset, enjoys deep diving into documents & data to make decisions
Good phone manner – Happy to speak to customers around updates on their lending applications
Organised & ability to work at speed
Team player – Can work collaboratively with customers best interests in mind
