Job Description

Job description
Chief Technology Officer

An established and forward-thinking game studio is seeking a hands-on CTO to lead the evolution of its game delivery platform. This strategic and operational role involves driving the technical roadmap, modernising core systems, and scaling global distribution. Ideal for a seasoned iGaming technology leader eager to make a tangible impact.

About the Studio

With over a decade of experience developing high-quality real-money casino games, this studio is known for delivering visually captivating and mathematically rich content. The portfolio spans classic slots, bespoke table games, and innovative crash games, all created by a team of seasoned industry professionals.

With a proprietary Remote Gaming Server (RGS) and full licensing in place, the studio ensures complete control, scalability, and compliance across regulated and unregulated markets. Now in a phase of rapid growth, the team is expanding global distribution, accelerating game production, and investing in next-generation, scalable technology.

About the Role

As CTO, you will define and execute the end-to-end technical vision, architecture, and delivery strategy. You'll be instrumental in scaling the platform, addressing legacy technical debt, and building world-class infrastructure for game deployment and distribution. This is a hands-on, pragmatic leadership role that requires deep technical knowledge and strong collaboration with product, commercial, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Strategy:
• Develop and execute the technology roadmap to support increased game output, broader market reach, and scalable operations;
• Lead the evolution of the proprietary RGS platform to support high throughput, robust tooling, and enhanced operator features;
• Promote best practices in architecture, code quality, documentation, observability, and incident management.

Platform Modernisation:
• Identify and remediate technical debt across legacy systems — through stabilisation, refactoring, or full rebuilds;
• Implement scalable, modular design patterns that support seamless integrations and reliable reporting;
• Ensure platform readiness for diverse regulatory and performance requirements, including latency and compliance considerations.

Team Leadership & Culture:
• Inspire and mentor a longstanding, capable team of developers, architects, and engineers;
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement, while valuing institutional knowledge;
• Identify and address team capability needs through hiring, training, or strategic partnerships.

Data & Insights:
• Develop modern data infrastructure to enable real-time and historical insights into gameplay, system performance, regions, and operators;
• Collaborate with product and commercial teams to ensure data is actionable and accessible for informed decision-making.

Security, Compliance & Reliability:
• Lead the technical compliance efforts for regulated markets;
• Oversee platform security, including data protection, access control, and monitoring;
• Ensure robust reliability with effective failover systems, disaster recovery, and regular testing.

About You
• Proven experience as a CTO, Technical Director, Chief Architect, or Principal Engineer at an iGaming slots provider;
• Deep understanding of RGS platforms, game delivery pipelines, and operator integrations;
• Hands-on expertise in platform architecture, cloud infrastructure, microservices, APIs, and legacy system modernisation;
• Strong foundation in data systems and analytics, capable of delivering insights that support cross-functional teams;
• Skilled at leading and developing high-performing technical teams, with strong communication and a pragmatic, empathetic approach;
• Demonstrated success in building scalable, global platforms;
• A genuine passion for games and the infrastructure that powers exceptional content.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique
• Be a key player in a transformative phase — help shape the future of a respected, growing studio;
• Collaborate with a dedicated team that values quality, integrity, and innovation;
• Bring new ideas to life, lead with autonomy, and drive meaningful impact.

Benefits Include
• Time Off: 25 days of annual leave;
• Sick Leave & Public Holidays: Inclusive of UK public holidays and statutory sick leave;
• Flexible Working Hours: Adaptable scheduling to support work-life balance;
• Remote Work: Full flexibility to work remotely from various locations;
• Referral Program: Help grow the team by referring talented individuals;
• Employee Education Initiative: Biannual support for exploring interests beyond daily responsibilities;
• Professional Development: Access to fully funded courses, workshops, and training aligned with professional growth.
