Job description, work day and responsibilities
Purpose:
To assist Council's customers with a range of telephone and face to face enquiries, payments, and services regionally in the Customer Service Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service
Provide high quality, proactive customer service and support to internal and external Council customers via phone, email and in person in accordance with Council's Customer Service Charter.
Create, monitor and update customer requests within Council's Customer request system.
Ensure relevant documents and correspondence are attached to customer request records.
Follow up and escalate outstanding customer requests as required.
Ensure business documents, e-mails and correspondence are recorded in Council's document management system.
Facility Bookings and Hire
Assist customers hiring Council facilities and venues (both casual or regular hire) in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure including:
Collection and receipting of hire fees and bonds
Arrange pre-event hire induction, familiarisation and training on the use of venue equipment (e.g. audio-visual equipment and other technology)
Process bond refunds (full or partial)
Maintain and update Council's facility booking platforms as required.
Payments and Banking
Accurately process customer payments and maintain records within Councils financial management system (Authority) including:
Receipting payments including rating, debtors, registrations and fees and charges
Undertake daily banking activities in accordance with established policies and procedures, including:
Ensure cash, EFTPOS and cheque figures balance / reconcile with banking reports
Complete end of day banking ensuring required float is maintained and surplus cash is banked

Mandatory and Highly Desirable Qualifications and Licences:
To be successful you will need to demonstrate that you have (or have the ability to obtain upon commencement) the below mandatory requirements for the role:
Current C (Car) Class Driver Licence
Certificate III in Business Administration (or similar discipline); or Attained through previous appointment, service and/or study, an equivalent level of expertise and experience to undertake the range of activities required
Required Skills and Experience:
Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to accurately complete and comply with financial processes (daily balancing and receipting etc.).
Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the drive and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Commitment to a team-based approach, with demonstrated ability to work cooperatively to achieve work unit goals.
Well-developed computer skills in the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn IT systems.
Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional Council's values and team goals.
Previous experience working in local government or similar environment will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Full-time position - 36.25 hours per week
Maranoa locality allowance - $72.00 per fortnight
5 weeks annual leave
15 days personal leave
