The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.

Mo to matou tira - About the team
The Information and Knowledge Management (IKM) team sits in our Corporate and Transformation group. The IKM team are a small, stable and close-knit team, consisting of information management practitioners and data analysts. We work closely with stakeholders to lead and support information and data management practice at the Office of the Ombudsman. The team consists of well experienced professionals who are keen to mentor and grow other team members.

Mo te turanga - About the role
You will work alongside a team of professionals supporting the wider organisation. You will be working with the business to understand requirements, design, and maintain dashboards and reporting for a wide variety of stakeholders, from investigations teams and managers, to Senior Leaders. You will answer queries and direct requests from kaimahi on performance and operational reporting as well as providing key data to identify trends. You will have the opportunity to be involved in transformation project work, including the development and implementation of a new CRM system and the implementation of PowerBI (to replace our current BI tool).
You will have the opportunity to work with two seniors in your team who are keen and willing to share their knowledge and support.
Experience with Qliksense is an advantage, but not a requirement.

To be successful in this role you will have:
A tertiary qualification in statistics or data or a related field, and / or 1-2 years' experience in knowledge and data practitioner role
Experience applying principles of good data and analytical data practices to complex operational and IT environments.
Good working knowledge of legislative and policy requirements that affect the management of data and information in the public sector.
Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas in a clear and direct manner
Strong organisational, prioritisation and planning skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team

Depending on skills and experience the salary is expected to be between $95,810 to $125,750 with $119,762 being the mid-point.
This role is based in Wellington. Please note we are unable to consider 100% remote working for this role.
