Job Description:
This position is to work in the FinTech area of Broadcom. Our division provides electronic payments and banking solutions in SaaS using AI/ML to determine risk. This position is for a Senior Database Administrator who will be a subject matter expert in all aspects of our PostgreSQL environment from cleaning up inefficient SQL/ORM logic, to digging into performance issues to optimizing our redundancy and monitoring capabilities. This candidate needs to be comfortable with being a resource for Operations and Engineering to provide guidance on leveraging datastore solutions to meet the needs of the organization.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the database lifecycle. Setup, installation, patching, upgrades, backups, and support for PostgreSQL and MongoDB database management systems
Provide monitoring, performance, and tuning of the database management systems.
Works in partnership with development resources to code, test, and implement database solutions according to the best standard
Create database server installation scripts leverage scripting and automation technologies to improve the speed of delivery using available tools such as GIT, BASH, Ansible, and Python scripting
Performance tuning on backup/recovery issues and archive systems management software.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
Participate in an on-call rotation. Willingness to participate in escalated issues as required
Requirements
BS Degree in Computer Science or related fields
7+ years experience with large-scale PostgreSQL environments, preferably multi-region and/or global
5+ years experience troubleshooting Database performance and scalability issues (identifying inefficient queries, indexes, configurations, infrastructure, etc)
Experienced in the use of Patroni clusters
Expert with PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Can develop stored procedures, database triggers, and other database-related activities in support of application development
Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database system issues
Experienced at performing developer SQL code review to ensure queries are optimized and tuned to perform efficiently.
Demonstrated knowledge in designing and managing high-availability environments.
Has had exposure to cloud architecture and Data Platforms
Linux OS knowledge and ability to automate tasks using GIT, Bash, Ansible or Python
