Liverpool Hospital is one of the largest and busiest hospitals in Sydney, serving a rapidly growing and diverse community and undergoing significant redevelopment and workforce expansion. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR leader to join the Liverpool Hospital Executive Leadership Team and lead the delivery of high‑quality, contemporary HR services in a complex public health environment.

This is a purpose‑driven HR leadership role for a confident leader who thrives in complexity, enjoys meaningful stakeholder engagement, and is motivated to influence organisational culture and workforce capability at scale.

In this role you will:

Lead the operational delivery of HR business partnering services across Liverpool Hospital, ensuring safe, compliant and high‑quality workforce practices.
Contribute as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing expert HR advice and supporting the implementation of organisational and district priorities.
Lead and support a HR business partnering team, delivering practical, hands‑on advice to managers and executives across all people matters.
Provide expert leadership on complex employment relations and industrial matters, including investigations, disputes and union engagement.
Build manager capability and confidence through coaching, guidance and practical people management support.
Support major workforce change, redevelopment and service growth, translating strategy into effective operational outcomes.
Work collaboratively with District HR, IR and the broader People & Culture teams to drive consistency, governance and continuous improvement.

Are You the Right Fit?
We are seeking an experienced and confident HR leader who thrives in operational and strategic complexity and understands how to balance strategic contribution with hands‑on delivery.

You will bring:

Extensive senior HR experience in a large, complex organisation, ideally within healthcare or another highly regulated environment.
Proven experience leading a HR team or HR Business Partnering model, ensuring consistent, high quality and stakeholder centric service delivery.
Strong expertise in employment relations, including dispute management, investigations and union engagement.
The ability to operate with operational autonomy, making sound, timely decisions while aligning with district and organisational frameworks.
Highly developed communication and influencing skills, with the credibility to engage executives, managers, staff and industrial stakeholders.
A practical, solutions‑focused approach and the resilience to manage competing priorities in a demanding environment.
A commitment to building positive workplace culture, capability and engagement in support of patient care and community outcomes.

Selection Criteria

Provide a brief overview of your relevant tertiary qualifications in human resources, employee relations, business, employment law, or a related discipline. Alternatively, or in addition, briefly outline your extensive senior‑level experience in human resource management within a large, diverse and complex service organisation.
Describe a situation where you led your team to manage a complex operational HR or employment relations issue within a large organisation. How did you assess risk, provide advice, engage key stakeholders (including unions where relevant), and achieve a compliant and balanced outcome?
Describe how you have led the development and implementation of strategies to uplift manager capability within a large, complex organisation.How did you identify capability gaps, support managers to build effective people leadership skills, and embed sustainable practices that improved employee experience, engagement and, ultimately, service or patient outcomes?
I understand that this role is required to participate in the Liverpool Hospital Executive On Call roster, on a rotating basis, supporting the After Hours Nurse Management team with patient flow, KPI management and incident escalation and response.
