Job Description

The Director, Legal Software Professional Services is a highly motivated and experienced leader responsible for the delivery of implementation and related services of Legal Software products in Asia and Emerging Markets (AEM). AEM comprises Australia-New Zealand, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

This is a multi-faceted, strong leadership role that requires expertise of implementations for clients, along with strong people management capabilities with a geographically dispersed team.

The role is responsible for capability development, sales enablement, delivery success and resource management for Legal Software products, working as part of the Professional Services team for Asia and Emerging Markets region (AEM).

About the role

The role will report to Vice President, Professional Services, Asia and Emerging Markets. The key responsibilities are below.
• Owns the delivery of Legal Software project implementations for customers across Corporates and Legal Firms
• Drives the successful delivery of global projects pertaining to the implementation of Thomson Reuters Legal Software products, namely HighQ, Contract Express and Legal Tracker.
• Establishes strong project governance practices, leading clients to implement, adopt and retain Thomson Reuters products.
• Can scope out a small/mid/large projects based on business requirements and achievable benefits.
• Can create Statement-of-Work and workplans. Can direct and guide the customer and teams to on-time and on-budget completion for both time and material and fixed fee.
• Manages portfolio level profitability to achieve financials KPIs.
• Provides subject matter leadership to clients and team
• Builds strong client relationships, leveraging those relationships to drive upsell and cross sell
• Brings strong functional and domain knowledge on Legal process transformation. Serves as a "trusted business advisor" to clients
• Engages with General Counsels, lawyers and IT departments, leading conversations and guiding decisions
• Manages client relationships, especially at C-levels and Department Heads.
• Provides subject matter depth and expertise to team.
• Plans the growth of delivery capabilities to align with the business growth
• Responsible for working closely with senior sales leadership to understand the pipeline and plan delivery capabilities in line with the business opportunities.
• Builds strategic partner and vendor relationships in the region to support successful delivery of projects and strengthen our position in the market
• Supports the financial plan of the organization through resource planning related to the key drivers of revenue recognition, utilization and margins.
• Enables sales growth by partnering with Sales Heads to provide necessary support in terms of pre-sales activities related to services scoping and estimates.
• Provides strong leadership and people management in a matrix working environment
• Manages a geographically dispersed team comprising of implementation consultants.
• Demonstrates strong people management skills by being able to recruit, develop, and retain employees effectively to maintain a world-class team.
• Achieves results through direct management and indirectly through influence. Focused on empowering direct reports and creating self-sufficient teams.
• Mentors and guides consultants, principal consultants and leads in a matrix structure.
• Demonstrates solution mindset, strong teamwork and collaboration skills
• Works with peers within AEM and across the globe and builds strong relationships with them
• Influences favorable customer outcomes through a strong orientation of win-win
• Is highly solution oriented, and finds creative solutions to complex management, technology and people issues.

Additional Information:

The position requires up to 25% travel.

About You

Education: Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Law or Technology is preferred.

Required Skills (Must have), Necessary industry Experience & associated number of years of experience:
• 18+ years of project management, legal advisory, professional services or consulting experience in a client-facing organization.
• 15+ years of experience in Legal Tech industry.
• Experience in adopting or implementing technology in legal function in Firms or Corporates, with a good understanding of how technology can bring efficiencies and key challenges involved
• Specialized Industry knowledge required:
• Deep experience in enterprise scale legal software implementation or product companies
• Deep domain and functional expertise in Legal Operations, with strong understanding of legal process in Corporates and Legal Firms.
• Must possess strong cross team/group/org collaboration skills; ability to foresee and analyze project risks, develop risk management plan and mitigate subsequent issues.
• Must have high-powered analytical skills and the ability to understand concepts and situations that require quick decision for mitigation.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong project management skills, and demonstrated success in adult learning and training principles/skills
• Must have experience of managing a team, geographically dispersed if possible
• Must have experience of dealing with senior management in customer organizations
• Must have the ability to manage multiple escalation situations from customers and partners by providing responses that lead to mitigation.
• Ability to understand high level technical discussions that are needed to drive conversations to closure.
