POSITION SUMMARY
As an experienced financial leader, our Controller will be an expert in building effective financial and operational systems. This role is accountable for building and leading highly efficient financial and risk management operations for the company, which includes the development and successful implementation of accounting and financial systems, policies, metrics tied to driving financial performance, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to allow for reporting accurate and meaningful financial metrics and results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the accounting team and be accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and processes.
Oversee and manage the continued development of budgeting, financial forecasting, operating plans, and modeling tools for the executive team.
Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Oversight of cash management and cash projections
Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency and cost optimization. Including developing and tracking financial and operational KPIs that are critical to the company in a timely manner.
Maintains thorough and complete knowledge of regulatory, financial, and tax reporting requirements and ensures knowledge transfer to the finance team.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Financial leadership background in a business with revenues exceeding $50M, preferably in rapidly growing, manufacturing-based companies.
Proven track record in developing, leading, and managing high-performing teams.
Must possess a “can do” attitude and be willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure timely and accurate delivery of the work product required from the accounting function.
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
Agile and adaptable, with a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage ambiguity.
Exceptional communication and management skills, adept at dealing with bankers, vendors, auditors, investors, and customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
10 or more years of professional accounting experience with industry focus within manufacturing.
Microsoft Office proficiency advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of PowerPoint
Capability to drill down and investigate and determine opportunities to improve departmental efficiencies through process design and effective use of automation.
Excellent technical knowledge of accounting, GAAP, and audit processes
Large team management experience
Demonstrated ability to combine attention to detail with big picture perspective, operationalizing via excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities
