About CMHA of Northern BC

The Canadian Mental Health Association of Northern BC (CMHA) plays a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities across the region. We provide integrated mental health services, including peer support, housing, addictions recovery, and employment programs. As a key organization in Northern BC, we are committed to reducing stigma, advocating for systemic change, and delivering inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive care.

CMHA of Northern BC is a branch of CMHA BC and must adhere to the CMHA BC branch agreement, ensuring alignment with provincial policies, standards, and strategic priorities.

CMHA of Northern BC serves a diverse population, including individuals from Indigenous, newcomer, LGBTQIA2S+, and other equity-deserving communities. We also prioritize building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. Demonstrated experience in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and intersectionality is crucial to ensure that our policies, programs, and workplace culture are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the unique needs of the people we serve.

CMHA of Northern BC is guided by a highly diverse and engaged Board of Directors, who bring a wealth of experience and perspectives to help shape the organization’s strategic direction and long-term sustainability. The Director of Operations will work closely with and support the Executive Director in ensuring the effective implementation of strategic initiatives, operational efficiencies, and organizational goals.

An Exciting Opportunity

This is a new leadership role within CMHA of Northern BC, offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified candidate to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals living with mental illness and addiction across the vast northern BC region. This position requires a highly organized, deadline-driven professional who can effectively manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain operational excellence in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Position Overview

The Director of Operations is a newly created senior leadership position responsible for overseeing and optimizing CMHA of Northern BC’s daily operations. This role is critical in driving change management as the organization expands and evolves. The Director of Operations will ensure operational excellence across programs, finance, human resources, and administrative functions, enabling CMHA of Northern BC to fulfill its mission effectively.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that CMHA of Northern BC maintains a client-centered culture, where programs and services are designed and delivered with a deep understanding of intersectionality and the complex identities of the individuals served. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of mental illness, recovery models of mental health and addictions, and the importance of person-centered, trauma-informed care in service delivery.

The Director of Operations must also have an understanding of brand management, ensuring that CMHA of Northern BC maintains a strong and consistent identity in alignment with CMHA BC and CMHA National. This includes maintaining brand integrity in all communications, marketing, and public-facing initiatives.

This role requires a solutions-focused leader who can navigate challenges, think critically, and implement effective strategies to strengthen CMHA of Northern BC’s operations.
