Lead with Impact – Shape the Future of Marine Infrastructure

The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI), together with Main Roads WA and the Public Transport Authority, Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery (OMID) and Office of Major Transport Infrastruture Devliery forms the Transport Portfolio. DTMI connects people and places to keep Western Australia moving towards a safer, healthier and more sustainable future. DTMI Maritime delivers services to the Recreational Boating Community along with provision of 29 Boating Facilities throughout the state. This includes Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour and Hillarys and soon to include Ocean Reef. These facilities not only include water side infrastructure but land side noting DTMI not only delivery break waters and pens but deliver roads and Services to over 300 lessees throughout these 29 facilities.

This role matters because it sits at the centre of how marine infrastructure is planned, delivered, governed and safeguarded for the future.

As Director Project Delivery, you will lead the strategic delivery of a multi‑year, high‑value program of marine infrastructure projects that have significant community impact across Western Australia.

You will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of the Marine Infrastructure Capital Works Program shaping strategy, overseeing major construction and commissioning activities and ensuring projects meet time, budget and quality expectations. You guide procurement and resourcing decisions, manage complex negotiations and maintain strong relationships with industry and stakeholders.

Your portfolio includes some of the State’s most iconic marine infrastructure initiatives, such as METRONET on Swan, Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront and many more. See the full scope of this portfolio here.

You will chair and contribute to key governance forums, including steering groups, where your strategic insight and ability to negotiate, influence and hold robust conversations will be essential.

What you’ll bring

We are seeking a strategic values-driven leader who can:

Lead a complex, high‑value program, with a strong grasp of program management fundamentals, sequencing work, prioritising staffing and other resources across multiple projects, and staying across both strategy and detail.
Manage large capital budgets confidently, working closely with Finance professionals on forecasting, reporting, carryovers and financial governance involving millions of dollars.
Build and lead a multidisciplinary team, including engineers and planners, where technical perspectives may differ, using strong people‑leadership and communication skills to navigate challenges, set expectations and hold open, honest and constructive conversations.
Own the delivery of the program, bringing a hands‑on, accountable leadership style that keeps the whole program connected, coherent and moving forward.
Influence effectively in complex environments, working within and developing governance structures, steering groups and across stakeholder networks with calm authority and sound judgement.
