The Role
The Director State Workforce Planning leads and directs the activities of the State Workforce Planning Branch in undertaking a range of projects and initiatives to assist in the identification and implementation of workforce planning priorities for the State.

This role is critical to creating a strong leadership environment by bringing about positive behaviour change in practice.

This role will help develop and understanding of WA’s overall skills requirements to deliver a future focused workforce planning and development strategy for WA. To be successful in this role you will ideally have experience in workforce related research in the context of industry and regional development, including at a whole of economy level, with a focus on workforce development and skills priorities. Your ability to lead, plan, and implement projects that provide the evidence base for high level and detailed workforce strategies will be critical. Experience in working with multiple stakeholders and sources of evidence and the ability to lead specialist teams to undertake complex analytical work will be essential in this role.

The immediate program of work will play a critical role in the prioritisation of skills investment for the State’s economic diversification, with a particular focus on the State Government’s Made in WA strategies. These include areas such as building and construction, defence, clean energy, the care sector, and manufacturing. The forward program of work will focus on regional workforce development, labour supply, and priority cohorts.
