Job Description
The North Bay Police Service is currently accepting applications for the position of permanent part-time (on call) 9-1-1 Call Taker / Dispatcher. This position requires the flexibility to work days or nights for scheduled and call-in shifts. You will be part of a dedicated team working in a fast paced environment
Prerequisite:
Successful completion of pre-employment testing.
Possess a Secondary School Diploma.
Principal Tasks:
Evaluating emergency calls;
Determining the appropriate level of response;
Dispatching the appropriate emergency service (Police and Fire);
Maintain radio communication and provide support to Police and Fire personnel;
Respond to requests for support services from field personnel;
Perform record queries using available resources when required.
Candidates for the above part-time position should possess the following skills:
Excellent communication skills;
Able to work as part of a team;
Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities;
Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and demanding environment;
Ability to take initiative and address issues before they develop into problems;
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills;
Well-developed data-entry skills in a computerized environment.
Compensation: $42.83 per hour + 10% in lieu of benefits and 5.4% vacation pay.
Hours: No minimum guarantee in terms of hours as per collective agreement.
Candidates will be evaluated in several stages, which will include testing, panel interview, personality assessment and a background investigation. If you have a condition or disability that could adversely affect your performance in participating in our testing, it is your responsibility to inform the North Bay Police Service Human Resources department at your earliest convenience PRIOR TO ATTENDING the scheduled testing.
