More about your role: As a Legal Specialist within our Group legal team, your primary responsibility will be to provide specialist advice and to deal claims against the Group in the area of housing disrepair litigation. Key Accountabilities: Act as a specialist within the legal team, demonstrating judgement, experience, and reasoning in housing disrepair litigation. Review and organise the Group's legal approach to dealing with disrepair. Reduce external legal spend on housing disrepair litigation for Group by dealing with litigation and negotiating commercial settlements with customers solicitors in terms of compensation and costs. Provide direct and immediate feedback about the costs of settlement and the time needed to settle litigation to the relevant internal stakeholders. Simplify relevant legal materials and issues to make them understandable for colleagues. Review, prepare, and draft a range of documents including standard correspondence, operational policies, operational procedures and advising on any relevant elements of compliance (with external or internal standards) in relation to area of disrepair and other areas linking to it as required. Train and develop the skills of colleagues working with disrepair and provide support to other parts of the business to understand how disrepair claims work, approaches to address it and the effects of disrepair on the business. Contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes by addressing disrepair issues in a business context. Handle day-to-day legal responsibilities across all businesses/departments as part of the wider legal team.

Qualification:

Qualified Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive in England and Wales with 4 years PQE experience in housing disrepair litigation.
