Job Summary:
A Food Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the distribution of food products to various retailers, wholesalers, and food service companies. They are responsible for ensuring that the distribution process runs smoothly, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner. The manager will also be responsible for managing a team of distribution staff, ensuring that they are properly trained and meeting performance targets.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and oversee the distribution of food products to various customers, including wholesalers, retailers, and food service companies
• Develop and implement distribution strategies that ensure the timely delivery of products
• Ensure that products are delivered to the correct location and in a timely manner
• Monitor distribution operations to ensure that they are running efficiently and effectively
• Manage inventory levels and ensure that products are properly stored and tracked
• Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure that customer needs are met
• Manage and train distribution staff, including drivers, warehouse workers, and administrative personnel
• Ensure that staff members are properly trained in safety procedures and regulatory compliance
• Ensure that the distribution process complies with all regulatory requirements
• Develop and maintain accurate records of distribution activities and performance metrics
Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in a distribution management role
• Strong understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Ability to analyze data and make sound decisions based on findings
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for food distribution
