Your application will clearly demonstrate how your ability to make decisions on ******* matters and experience of hearing processes will benefit Council's DLC.

What we offer

The DLC role is based on an as-required basis and would suit candidates who would be available during standard working hours to attend hearings. The remuneration rate is set by the Minister of Justice and successful candidates will be contracted to the Christchurch City Council and not as employees of the Council. As a chair, you could expect to lead between 4-10 hearings. As a member you may expect to participate in between 3-9 hearings per year. Hearings can vary in length from 1 hour up to 5 days (most cases would be dealt with in 1-2 days).

Decision making process

The Council is unable to appoint individuals who, either through their own involvement or through associations with others, have a connection to the ******* industry that could reasonably give rise to actual or perceived bias, thereby compromising their ability to carry out their duties impartially.

Additional information and how to apply

More information on the District Licensing Committee can be found via https://www.ccc.govt.nz/consents-and-licences/business-licences-and-consents/alcohol/district-licensing-committee-2

Candidates will need to apply via the below 'Apply now' link ensuring they include a cover letter and curriculum vitae (CV) outlining suitability for the role(s) and alignment with the criteria for each. A copy of the position description and additional relevant information can also be found via the link at the bottom of the page.

These are positions of trust and candidates must therefore be prepared to undergo and pass a police vetting check prior to commencing as a member of the committee.

Next steps

Once the application period has closed, applications will be reviewed and shortlisted for interviews. Post interviews, a report with recommendations will be provided to Council for their consideration as only the Council can appoint members to the DLC.
