Job description Early Intervention Teacher

Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week

Location: Based in our Royal Oak office, but serving the South Auckland area

Job specific information
We are looking for an Early Childhood superstar to join our team of Early Intervention Teachers, Speech Language Therapists and Education Support Workers.

Community based – supporting whānau/families in their homes and children in their Early Learning Services.

Work alongside kaiako to support inclusion.

Support successful transitions to school.

Support whānau / families to get early information, resources and support so that disabled children get the best start in life.

Work alongside other specialists from agencies such as Child Development services, BLENNZ, Ko Taku Reo and Ministry of Education.

Our organisation takes a social, rather than medical approach, supporting disabled people to live their best lives. We are guided by the Enabling Good Lives principles, shifting power and authority back to disabled people and their families, to increase choice and control in their lives.

About you
We are looking for people who have:

A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).

A post-graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention or the ability to attain this within four years of beginning in the position.

A minimum of three years teaching experience and a deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to establish effective relationships with families / whānau, early childhood facilities and other agencies.

If you do not have a Graduate Diploma in Early Intervention, the minimum qualification for this position is a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or a recognised equivalent, a minimum of at least 3 years teaching experience, full teacher’s registration and a current practising certificate – this will enable you to pursue a Graduate Diploma in Early Intervention which CCS Disability Action will support.
