We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will be a key member of our support and engagement team. Under teacher direction, you will ideally:

Assist in implementing education programmes and individual plans that promote inclusion, engagement and progress.
Help students develop their academic, social, emotional and physical skills, including confident use of computers and digital technologies.
Promote positive behaviour, routines and regulation strategies so all learners can thrive.
Provide clear feedback on education and therapy programmes and contribute to evaluating student goals in special education settings.
About you:

You are ideally warm, reliable and collaborative, with:

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with teachers, therapists and families
Experience supporting students with a range of disabilities and learning needs, ideally including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and Pathological Demand Avoidance.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach aligned with our 'FiSH Charter' and a strong commitment to inclusive practice
Confidence with classroom routines, small-group and one-to-one support, and the use of digital tools to enhance learning.

Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
