About the role:

To work within the councils policy and legislative frameworks to ensure that borough wide service is delivered within the required standards through a Neighborhood approach. To work as part of a professional team and support the manager in dealing with all aspects of Street Trading. This includes having substantial expert knowledge of Street Trading and Markets including wide ranging technical knowledge from an extensive range of legislation and the ability to apply it. To be able to investigate offences to a high standard with minimal supervision and to take the appropriate action to achieve compliance and to be able to see the bigger picture. You will be required to carryout routine inspections and have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships as you will be dealing with licence holders, business owners and members of the public. You must be able to accurately maintain financial, administrative, and investigative records in accordance with service standards and best practice. You will be required to work with a wide range of internal and external bodies to achieve objectives and have experience of monitoring service providers and gathering data / intelligence for the production of performance reports and implementing corrective action.

Key Responsibilities:

To investigate offences of breaches of licence terms and conditions to a high standard with minimal supervision and to take the appropriate action to achieve compliance and to be able to see the bigger picture.

To carryout routine inspections and have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships.

To preparation and presentation of case files for legal proceedings.

To conduct research, and diagnose complex problems/issues / requirements and develop innovative strategic solutions and to present them in a coherent manner.

To work with a range of partners on the development and/or the delivery of joint action plans.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Excellent levels of numeracy and literacy

Equivalent professional or industry qualifications directly relevant to the job profile

Experience of using office-based IT systems including word, excel and PowerPoint and able to quickly learn new systems as required.

Must be physically fit and health with the ability to walk long distances

Must hold a valid driving license and access to a vehicle

Occasionally the post will be expected to work from other locations, evening and weekends

The working days for this role are Tuesday - Saturday based on a shift pattern
